The governor of Iowa has issued an order requiring dentists and their staff to refrain from performing elective dental procedures, including routine hygiene, orthodontia (not including procedures necessary to relieve pain or infection), etc. The order does not prohibit the provision of emergency dental services.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has issued a directive to facilities to cease all dental treatment except emergencies until further notice. The order also includes procedures that must be followed at sites for emergency dental care.
